Upperman Middle School Art Teacher Awarded 2021 Tennessee Art Educator Of The Year

PUTNAM COUNTY, T.N. – The Putnam County School System is pleased to announce that Janis Nunnally, Visual Art Educator at Upperman Middle School, has been awarded the 2021 Tennessee Art Educator of the Year by the Tennessee Art Education Association as well as being elected to serve as the Middle Level Director on the National Art Education Association Board of Director.

“I am so very excited and overwhelmed to be the 2021 TAEA Art Educator of the Year and to have been elected to the NAEA Board of Directors in the same year. I have been involved with TAEA and NAEA for many years because I truly believe the importance of Visual Art education for every student from K-12.” said Nunnally.

The Tennessee Art Education Association recognizes outstanding art educators from across the state, in a variety of categories. These teachers exemplify the qualities and standards of what it means to be a great art educator, going above-and-beyond for their students.

“We are proud of Mrs. Nunnally for receiving the 2020 Tennessee Art Educator of the Year award as well as being elected to the National Art Education Board,” said Corby King, Director of Schools for the Putnam County School System.
