White County’s Alaina Stiles Signs With Freed-Hardeman University

White County girls’ basketball star Alaina Stiles took the next step in her athletic and academic career when she signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Freed-Hardeman University.

Stiles, who is known for her size and versatility, made it official at a celebration on the floor of the WCHS gymnasium.

“I’ve always dreamed of going there,” said Stiles. “I love the environment and the coaching. I’m really excited.”

WCHS head coach Michael Dodgen emphasized how happy he is for one of his senior players.

“That was obviously a place she wanted to go to from the start,” said Dodgen. “I thought she had a fantastic summer for us. It’s big for her and her family. I’m happy for her and ecstatic for their program.”

Stiles said FHS was her dream school, and she didn’t hesitate when she received her offer.

“They started looking at me during 2020 in COVID,” said Stiles. “I went on a visit and really enjoyed it. Ever since then I’ve fell in love with it.”

Stiles said she thinks her ability to handle the basketball will translate well to the next level.

“Being able to handle the ball and shoot outside (will translate),” said Stiles. “Then being able to go inside when I have a mismatch.”
