Lady Cavs Dominant Early vs. Stone Memorial, Win 66-21

A dominant first half led the Cookeville Lady Cavaliers to a non-district victory over Stone Memorial Tuesday evening, 66-21.

Cookeville exploded out of the gates en route to a 34-0 lead over the Lady Panthers midway through the second period en route to their victory.

Jordan Gillies led a balanced Lady Cavalier attack with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Allie Gillies posted 9 points along with 8 by Charlie Roby and 7 points each from Cassie Gallagher, Isabel Garcia and Macy Hudson.

For Stone Memorial, sophomore forward Kortney Headrick scored 9 points to lead the Lady Panthers.

Cookeville pitched a shutout in the first quarter as they led 25-0 after the first 8 minutes. Stone Memorial got on the board midway through the second as they trailed 44-6 at halftime.

The Lady Cavs cruised in the second half, outscoring SMHS 22-15 in the final two quarters to win 66-21.

Cookeville improves to 2-1 overall and takes 10 days off before hosting White County on Friday, Dec. 2.

Stone Memorial is scheduled to face Meigs County Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Cumberland County High School.
