Strong defense was on display Tuesday evening in Baxter as the Upperman Lady Bees defeated Providence Christian Academy, 50-27.

The Lady Bees held PCA to only nine second-half points en route to their third win of the season.

Upperman senior forward Abby Johnson posted a double-double in the win with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Senior guard Jayla Cobb also hit double-figures with 15 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.

The Lady Bees opened with a 7-0 run over PCA and led 14-7 after one period.

PCA fell down by 11 points (18-7) in the second period before an 11-0 run late in the period tied the game at 18 going to halftime.

Upperman pitched a shutout in the fourth quarter as they held PCA scoreless for the final 8 minutes to win 50-27.

The Lady Bees improve to 3-0 and will take the court next on Friday at the State Farm Thanksgiving Classic in Lebanon.
