The Cookeville Cavaliers came up short on Friday as they fell in a low-scoring non-district contest against Clinton, 3-1.
Cookeville outhit the Dragons 6-4, but it was Clinton who made the hits matter as they recorded 2 RBIs in the victory.
Cookeville’s Ty Harrison and Tyler Smith each went 2-3 for the Cavaliers at the plate. Luke Bragga pitched 6 innings for Cookeville as he surrendered 4 hits and 3 runs while striking out a pair of Dragon batters.
After a scoreless first inning, Clinton posted a run in the top halves of the second, third and fourth innings to take a 3-0 lead.
The Cavaliers responded in the bottom of the fifth as an Andrew Corbeil sacrifice fly scored Harrison to make the score 3-1.
The 3-1 score would stand for the final two innings as Clinton held on to their 3-1 advantage to win at Cookeville.
The Cavaliers have a quick turnaround as they host Brentwood Academy Saturday at 2 p.m.
