The Monterey Lady Wildcats celebrated their softball senior night in style as they defeated Sunbright, 16-2.
Monterey totaled 14 hits in 3 innings as Gracie Hastings, Dixie Elrod, Shea Harris and Addison Roberson each recorded 2 hits. Hastings had 4 RBIs and a double followed by Harris with 3 RBIs and a double.
After Sunbright posted a run in the top of the first, Monterey answered with 10 in the bottom of the frame to take a 10-1 lead into the second. The Lady Wildcats posted 4 more to extend their lead to 14-1 before Sunbright answered with a run in the top of the third to cut their deficit to 14-2.
Monterey had the bats rolling in the bottom of the third as they posted two runs with 1 out before inclement weather suspended play, giving the Lady Wildcats a 16-2 senior night victory.
Monterey is scheduled to travel to York Institute tonight, weather permitting.
