Livingston Academy senior Taryn Childers made her college soccer plans official Wednesday afternoon as she signed with East Tennessee State University.
“I’m super excited,” said Childers. “I’m ready to further my career playing soccer; I’ve been playing it for 14 years now. It’s a big moment.”
ETSU is an NCAA Division I program in Johnson City that competes in the Southern Conference.
“ETSU is a good distance; it’s not too far and not too close,” said Childers. “When I visited, I fell in love with the campus and could see myself playing there for the next four years. I’m going to be majoring in biology, and after I’m done there I’ll transfer to Tennessee to continue veterinarian school.”
Childers wrapped four seasons of high school soccer with Livingston Academy in October. Childers scored over 100 goals in her career, won 4 district championships, made a state tournament berth in 2022 and was named District 7-2A MVP three consecutive seasons.
“It’s meant a lot,” said Childers. “I transferred here halfway through my freshman year and was a bit nervous, but Livingston was so welcoming and I’m so grateful.”
