REGION CHAMPIONS: Macon County Defeats Watertown In 4-3A Championship Game, 4-1

The Macon County Tigers are the champions of Region 4-3A following Saturday’s 4-1 championship game victory over Watertown.

Pitcher Gunner Carlisle earned the victory as he struck out 3 batters while allowing 5 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings. Matthew Wheeley closed out the final 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 hit and 0 walks.

Macon County went to work early with 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning as singles by Hayden Dean and and Carson Brawner along with a double by Gage Jones drove in a run each, giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead after one inning.

Ty Bilbrey tacked on a run in the bottom of the third with a single to score Dean, making the score 4-0 after three. Watertown tacked on a run in the top of the sixth inning before Macon County shut them out from there to win, 4-1.

Macon County will host a three-game Class 3A Sectional series this week against the Region 3-3A runners-up; opponent and game times TBD.
