PUTNAM COUNTY, TN – The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the District General Bryant C. Dunaway is filing formal charges Monday of Attempted 1st Degree Murder against Floyd Ray Cook, the man who police say shot Algood Police Officer Ahscari Valencia on Saturday, October 24.
In addition, the FBI has accepted the Putnam County Sheriff’s offer to provide assistance in this case since the subject fled across state lines. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is a partner in the FBI’s Safe Streets Violent Crime Gang Task Force and all available personnel continue to pursue leads in this case.
Floyd Ray Cook is now listed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s (TBI) 10 Most Wanted List.
Officer Valencia is doing fine and looking forward to returning to duty.
