“SHOP WITH A COP” HELPS KIDS GO BACK-TO-SCHOOL IN STYLE

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) assisted
almost 90 children in our community with their Back-to-School shopping this week. “We spend
about $9,000 each year to help kids who need assistance get the basic clothing items needed for
school,” said Stacey Padgett, President of the local FOP Chapter.  Each child selects shirts, pants,
socks, underwear and shoes with the help of a deputy and/or FOP member.  “We’ve been doing this
for years. It’s fun and it means a lot to the kids and their parents,” added Dan Gragg, State Trustee
for the FOP.  The children are screened and selected by the Putnam County Health Department.
