Taryn Childers’ Hat Trick Leads Livingston to 7-0 Win Over Stone Memorial

By Michael Lindsay

The Livingston Academy Lady Wildcats kept their dominant start to District 7AA soccer play rolling Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Stone Memorial, 7-0.

“We didn’t start as quick as we’d like, but overall I’m proud of that against Stone,” said Livingston head coach Heather Marshall. “They usually play us pretty well.”

LA improved to 5-0 in district play with the win. The Lady Wildcats have outscored league foes 39-0 in the 5 games.

Taryn Childers led Livingston Academy with a hat trick as the junior scored 3 goals in the win. Tara Hinds scored 2 along with one by Mallori Lindsay and Lauren Storie.

Stone Memorial kept the Lady Wildcats out of the net for the first 15 minutes before  Livingston’s Tara Hinds broke through with a goal with 24:26 remaining in the first half to give LA 1-0 lead.

“Once we get the one, the floodgates can open up,” said Marshall. “We just have to get that one.”

Lauren Storie tacked on another Lady Wildcat goal from the right side to give LA a 2-0 lead with 16:11 remaining in the opening period.

Livingston closed out the first half strong as they tacked on two goals in the final 3 minutes as Childers scored a goal followed by a Mallori Lindsay penalty kick with 26 seconds left in the first half to make the score 4-0 at halftime.

Livingston Academy opened the second half strong as Hinds scored her second goal of the night with 32:45 remaining in the second half to take a 5-0 lead.

Childers closed the game out with two goals in the final 20 minutes to wrap up the 7-0 Livingston Academy victory.

“That quick shot was working,” Childers said. “I was trying to take too many touches in the first half. Once I got that through my head and started placing my shots, that really helped.”

Defensively, keeper Laney Bowers and the Lady Wildcats pitched their seventh shutout of the season.

The Lady Wildcats host a premier non-district matchup Thursday as they welcome undefeated Hume-Fogg at 6 p.m. while Stone Memorial is set to host Franklin County.
